The construction of Tore Holm’s 1936 J-Class design, Svea, will begin in May 2009. The boat has been on the drawing board of Dutch naval architect Andre Hoek for some time – but now a Dutchman has ‘stepped up to the plate’  and the boat is scheduled for build in Freddie Bloemsma’s specialist aluminium hull-building yard. Andre Hoek is also working on the replica Endeavour . The first J to win the America’s Cup in 1930.  Holland Jachtbouw has been chosen as preferred builder. With up to five new ‘J’s either in build or launched in the last five years the ‘J’ fleet is looking healthy. This would be the fifth new J to start building in the last few years.
