The Audrain Newport Concours and Motor Week is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events of the fall season in Newport, RI. Automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts from across the globe have begun to make room on their calendars each year for this much anticipated event. The weeklong event presented by The Audrain Museum and A. Lange & Söhne has activities for anyone interested in classic and modern vehicles.
Now in its fifth year and showing no signs of slowing down the Motor Week ended the week packed with events, parties and displays of a varied assortment of vehicles with the Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance on Sunday October 6th, 2024 at the Breakers Mansion with it’s beautiful scenery and backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean behind a lawn filled with some of the most breathtakingly rare and stunningly beautiful cars and motorcycles one could ever hope to see.
Some of the events were by ticket only, but the streets of Newport were full of unique autos at no cost to the public during the week. There is a road tour that takes place on the road from the Audrain Museum to Little Compton and back then gives the public an opportunity to see many of the cars up close as they spend the afternoon after the tour parked for display on Bellevue Avenue for everyone to admire and enjoy up close. This year over 160 of the cars that were in the Concours D’Elegance also participated in the tour.
This year you could not have wished for a more perfect day for a concours. The early morning sun rose over the Atlantic to unfold a spectacular view of the lawn at The Breakers lined up with an array of stunning metal, chrome, bronze and glass.
There were proud owners of the vehicles sitting or standing by their entries happy to tell the history and stories of each of the vehicles.
If you stopped admiring the sheer beauty of this lawn full of beauties long enough you could hear the buzz of like minded enthusiasts discussing the finer details of cars and motorcycles and their histories.
Some were sought after and prized from when they were first built. Others were shed or barn found and brought back to their glory with years of care by those who value the history of some of the most rare vehicles in the world. So many of these treasures have come full circle because of the time and care given to bring them to their original beauty.

Jay Leno congratulated and encouraged the 30 under 30 portion of the Concours which is a driving force to help bring in younger owners who may not be able to restore a multimillion-dollar vehicle but are no less passionate about their autos and restoring them.
He had stated a few times he noticed when attending many car events, the main audience were of the older generation and he set out to change the notion that you had to have unlimited funds to push forward your passion to restore your vehicles and have them admired by all auto enthusiasts. This has begun to bring in a push for a younger generation of attendees and entries at the Audrain Newport Concours. This all has a trickle-down effect as more of the younger crowd remembers a different set of classics than someone who is of the “grayer” generation but no less proud of their works and the amazing restorations they have done. This in turn brings in more of their friends and colleagues to see not only their autos but all of the amazingly different diverse wheeled vehicles that have been invented in the last century and a quarter.
