The Audrain Motor Week and Tour d’Elgance took off on Saturday October 4th as part of the 2025 classic car takeover of Newport, Rhode Island.

There were all types of classic and exotic cars around Newport for the entire week attending various events. From a 1914 Mercer 22/70 Raceabout to Alfa Romeos and Lamborghinis Newport was full of great automotive sights and sounds all week long.

On Saturday, October 4th, many of the entries in the upcoming Sunday Concours d’Elegance joined together in a Tour d’Elegance that began at Newport’s 3rd beach in the early morning hours and proceeded to tour Newport from the beach along the countryside, then headed up 138 and crossed over to Tiverton and down to Little Compton for a 45-minute stopover.

They tour then took to the road again and came back across to Aquidneck Island and down to Newport giving many who where in town and unaware of the events a close up view and some neck turning as they proceeded through Newport and down Ocean Drive before turning up Bellview Avenue past many of Newports famous mansions. They came into town in formation lining up two by two in front of the tennis hall of fame and Audrain Museum.

The tour had hundreds of spectators waiting on hand to greet them when they arrived on Bellview Avenue. The spectators were given an up close view of the tour participant’s cars after they parked and the owners attended a lunch at La Forge.

This is one of the many times during the week that the public can view automobile they will probably never see on the street any other time. There were some of the rarest of rare on the street and it was completely open to the public.

It turned out to be a beautiful day with sunshine in abundance, so the convertible drivers and passengers enjoyed the day with rag tops down and hair in the breeze.
